Tamzene is a singer, writer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the coastal town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. Inspired by everything from the beauty of the rugged landscape to the local cèilidh bands and the powerhouse vocals of her mum's favourite artists (Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner), Tamzene always knew she wanted to be a musician. Growing up in an isolated location never stopped her from finding an audience. Busking in nearby Inverness, she cut her teeth by performing a mix of classic covers and contemporary pop tracks by the likes of Adele, Amy Winehouse, Leon Bridges and her personal hero, Alicia Keys.

These years of busking taught her the importance of killer hooks and powerful choruses. Tamzene kickstarted her career by combining her lifelong influences and making it her own; the Scottish folk music of the highlands, the reggae introduced to her by her half-Jamaican mother and soul compilations her stepfather used to make.

Her formula has clicked, and people have taken note; in the last two years, Tamzene has been invited to play lauded festivals including Latitude, TRNSMT, Eurosonic Noorderslag and Reeperbahn. She has recently graced the stage of King’s Cross’ Lafayette, Hackney’s Earth, even an impromptu set in New York City, and the summer will see her play more festivals such as Brixton’s Cross The Tracks and Brighton’s Great Escape.
